Turkey is an increasingly popular vacation destination for tourists from all over the world. We’ve put together a guide to take you through some of the popular tourist resorts. Altinkum is a relatively new resort that’s continually growing. Its name means ‘golden sands’ and it has lovely beaches leading onto the Aegean Sea.

There are loads of great water sports to take part in as well as good bars and restaurants, plus a local market. It’s recommended you visit in spring, summer or early fall.

Another popular resort is Bodrum, a port town which boasts miles of sandy beaches as well as 5000 years of history. This makes it a great option for everyone who likes to do a bit of exploring on their holiday. Home of the Greek historian Herodotus, it’s full of cute little villages as well as some fantastic historical monuments.

You could visit Myndus gate, take a trip to the beautiful Roman theatre or perhaps go and check out the Mausoleum. Dalyan, which translates as ‘fish trap’, is the ideal place for anyone after a quiet, environmentally friendly vacation. You could visit the lovely turtle beach or perhaps take a jeep safari to explore a mosque in an old village.

You could also go to the old city of Caunos, go trekking or explore on mountain bikes. Dalyan aims to be a ‘green’ village, as emphasized by the fact that no building is allowed to be built unless it’s under 2 storeys, making it great for eco-travelers.

For a great vacation on Turkey’s Lycian coast, you could visit the beautiful resort of Kalkan. This has been described as similar to the Italian Riviera and it’s popular with people who also love the Dordogne region. It’s a dedicated tourist resort, meaning you can be sure of a fantastic stay, situated at the foot of the Taurus Mountains.

Explore the narrow streets and visit one of the great restaurants down at the harbor, or go and check out the lovely Ottoman Greek architecture for a fantastic trip.

Alternatively, you could go on vacation to Kas, which features some significant archeological sites including Tlos and Patara. There are also some intriguing cliff tombs nearby or you could relax on one of the small beaches.

If you’re a fan of day trips, you could visit the nearby Greek island of Megisti or pay a visit to the ancient town of Antiphellus, which is said to be well worth the trip. Kas is on the Mediterranean coast and is a great place – whatever your style, you’re sure to love Turkey.
